Strength training shouldn't be intimidating.
It should be empowering.
I’m Courtney Glancy, and I help people who feel out of place in big-box gyms find their strength through practical, sustainable, and inclusive coaching in safe spaces.
A Safe Space to Grow
I focus on working with women, queer and non-binary folks, and older adults, although everyone is welcome in my practice. The training environments I’ve chosen are intentionally small, supportive, and free from the "gym trauma" many of us have experienced.
Inclusive & Affirming: Zero tolerance for bigotry. I meet you and accept you where and as you are.
Injury-Informed: As a Barbell Rehab Method certified trainer, I know how to train around pain and prevent future injuries.
Flexible Locations: We can train in one of two private gym spaces in Belvedere Square or Mt. Vernon, or I can come to your home/condo gym.
Virtual Training: Prefer to work out on your own? I offer online coaching and programming no matter where you’re located.
My "Strong for Life" Promise
My goal isn’t to make you a bodybuilder—it’s to make you strong for life. I focus on functional longevity, building discipline and consistency, and appreciating what your body can do, not what you see in the mirror.
Whether you’re aiming for body neutrality or body positivity, your goals and your abilities provide the roadmap. I’m a firm believer that you don't have to be "perfect" to be strong. You just need to show up and do the work. I’ll be with you the whole way.
My Story
After a back injury in my early 30s left me frustrated with standard recovery, I felt lost when it came to improving my quality of life. Then I fell in love with hiking during the pandemic, and a friend convinced me to climb Kilimanjaro.
I suddenly found myself in a gym for the first time since high school, preparing for the biggest adventure of my life. Not only did I reach the summit, but I also discovered a passion for fitness I never had before.
The Turning Point
In my previous career as a creative director, I was coaching every day—learning what truly motivates people and how to help them overcome the blocks that keep them from their best work. But I wanted a more fulfilling way to help others, so I traded the studio for the gym. Now, I use that same people-focused understanding to help my clients build their strongest selves.
How it Benefits You
The deep insight into human nature that I’ve developed over years allows me to be a more supportive, empathetic, and effective trainer. I don't just see a set of muscles; I see a person with a busy life, a unique history, and the potential to be “strong for life.” Additionally, I treat everyone as an individual, and I make sure each program is tailored to a specific person, not a generic caricature.
